Halalan tayyiban: lawful and wholesome. Full ingredient review, zabiha meat verification with a named imam, photo & video evidence, and a certificate anyone can verify instantly.
WestNet seeks to be the highest product standard anywhere — and that shows in what we refuse to certify. In Canada, the word “halal” on a label only requires a certifier's name behind it; nobody audits the standard itself. Those gaps are exactly where we are strictest. Most certifiers stop at “not haram.” We do not. If an ingredient is toxic, industrially degraded, or of doubtful origin, it is not tayyib — and we will not put our name on it. Every single ingredient is reviewed, including E-numbers, processing aids and carriers.
“Eat of what is on earth lawful and wholesome” — Qur’an 2:168
We do not define toxic chemicals as halal. Lawful is the floor — wholesome is the standard.
A fast-food or big-box rotisserie chicken can wear the word “halal” while being machine-slaughtered, chlorine-rinsed and phosphate-injected — and under Canada's rules, nobody checks the standard behind the sticker. Meanwhile, typical agencies run on paperwork and phone calls, and bill $250 or more every month. We built a fully computerized certifier that charges $250 per year — and holds the ceiling, not the floor.

Meat carries the strictest requirements in the Standard. All six must be met — no exceptions.
Because excellence in work is not our marketing — it is a command. Allah ﷺ does not ask for adequate work; He asks for the best work. That is the grade we certify to.
And the Prophet ﷺ said: “Verily, Allah loves that when one of you does a deed, he perfects it (itqan).” — Hadith, al-Tabarani
Itqan — perfection of work — is the WestNet Halal Standard in one word.
Certification is service, not profit. Staff costs are capped under 10% — everything else goes back out the door: into the community, into food programs, and into keeping the registry running. Sponsored (free) certifications are funded from this same pool.
Free to submit. Review begins once the $250 fee is paid.
Retailers, distributors and customers: scan the shelf — enter the product's UPC barcode number or the certificate number to confirm halal status instantly. No login needed.
We are not a certification mill. WestNet seeks to be the highest product standard anywhere — and we serve the community we certify for, every single day.
A cornerstone of global product identification for nearly three decades. As one of the original UPC aggregators and registrars, WestNet operates a 30-million-code database trusted by sellers on Amazon, Walmart and retailers worldwide — the same registry infrastructure that now anchors every halal certificate we issue.
Our humanitarian arm serves communities with dignity-first programs — from food security to community infrastructure. Certification revenue helps sustain this work: when you certify with WestNet, your fee serves the same community your halal mark protects.
